Hi! My names Hayley and I'm 16 years old. As you can probably guess, I am a HUGE fan of 'Pop Idol', which is why i have decided to create this website, for the millions of people out there, who, just like me, absolutely LOVE 'Pop Idol'. The website is going to be based on the fabulous 3 finalists from the show- Will, Gareth and Darius. I hope you enjoy the website and have as much fun searching it, as i had making it- Happy Surfing!!

POP IDOL
As I am sure you all know, 'Pop Idol', has been one of the greatest telivision shows of all time. The show started way back in June 2001, when approximately 10,000 hopefuls turned up at locations across the U.K. from London to Glasgow. Each person was to queue for hours before a 5 minute, nerve-wracking audition in front of a panel of judges- consisting of Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman, Nicky Chapman and 'Dr' Neil Fox. Only 100 people could go through, so it was hard deciding, but the judges eventually wittled it down. Then it was off to the Criterion Theatre in London, where the lucky hopefuls and 4 judges underwent a week of performing and extremly hard decision making. The judges eventually announced there final 50, who were then split into 5 groups of 10, where each and every person performed for the judges and people at home, for there fate was held at the hands of the public. The final 10 was announced after 5 weeks of nail-biting anticipation. These 10 were names as- Korben, Jessica Garlick, Aaron Bayley, Laura Docherty, Rosie Ribbons, Hayley Evetts, Zoe Docherty, Rik Waller, Gareth Gates and William Young. Unfortunately one of the contestants- Rik Waller had to drop out of the contest, due to illness, and in stepped Darius Danesh- The laughing stock of a previous talent search- 'Pop Stars'. Week by week, the finalists were given a theme in which they had to chose a song to perform live on Saturday night, and then the public voted for their favorite, meaning the person with the least votes was voted off. Finally, when only 2 contestants were left, the winner was announced, 23 year old student, Will Young.
The Heats
As i said in the last section- once the finalists were in their heats, the public voted who they wanted in the final 10, here is how the votes went.
Heat 1- Gareth Gates, 62% & Zoe Birkett, 10%
Heat 2- Hayley Evetts, 33.2% & Laura Docherty, 30.8%
Heat 3- Rosie Ribbons, 51.2% & Jessica Garlick, 12.4%
Heat 4- Will Young, 41.5% & Korben, 24.7%
Heat 5- Rik Waller, 25.6% & Aaron Bayley, 24.9%
(Darius Danesh was in Heat 5, coming 3rd, with 19.9%)
